Description
For this workshop Aela will be teaching Hagallah & Shimmy Variations – Egyptian “Bling” for Cabaret and Tribal. Aela will break down the technique of the Hagallah and drill shimmy variations to create new combinations of this traditional move. We will then pack them into fun combinations guaranteed to spice up your performances, whether improv or choreographed. The second part of workshop will be Sha-abi which in Arabic means “Dance of the People”. The dance incorporates repeated earthy and strong movements, sometimes suggestive, always fun and energetic. Attitude is most important and reflects the Egyptian mentality of everyday people, displaying a love for life and national pride. Learn different combinations that you can use to your own music to create your own Sha’abi improvisation since this is danced predominantly without choreography.
